Hindu New Year; Vikram Samvat 2081 (Krodhi) The Hindu New Year, or Vikram Samvat, is observed on the first day of the Shukla Paksha of the Chaitra month (Chaitra Navratra) and is known for its mathematical precision. In several states, the Hindu New Year commences on the first day of the Hindu month of Baishakh.Vikram Samvat 2081 will start from 9 April 2024. 2081 New Year will be known as 'Krodhi'. This year, the king of the Samvat will be Mars and the minister will be Saturn.Samvatsara means Varsha, i.e., year. As per Hindu tradition, there are 60 Samvatsaras, each has different names. This Samvatsara is Sri Shubhakrut Nama Samvatsara and is the 5127 th year of Kaliyuga. We all remember and instantly tell our year of birth based on English calendar. But we struggle to remember the Samvatsar based on Bharatiya Hindu Panchanga. According to legend, Vikramaditya, the revered king of Ujjain, is said to have freed his subjects from the dominance of the Sakas nearly 2068 years ago. Historians suggest that the traditional Indian calendar, Vikram Samvat, is set 57 years ahead of the widely used Gregorian calendar. Given below is the Samvatsar in which you were born. Please preserve this and regularly use it. Our Rishis and Munis could accurately predict when modern day gadgets and equipments were non existent. That's why self-realization, according to Vaishnava theology, means to realize one's eternal self beyond the temporary body and mind. Krishna gives a brilliant argument in the Bhagavad Gita to help a thoughtful person experience his eternal self.https://www.facebook.com/share/p/21hkfJxQrksJ5VCC/

This is ingrained into the daily rituals. Every pooja starts with sankalpam. Here we specify the day as per the Vedic calendar. Year ( current one of the sixty listed) uttar/ dakshin Aayan ( based on sun movement), ritu ( current one of the six seasons), month ( chaitra to phalguna, 12 months) , paksha ( Shukla, bahula based on moon phase) , thithi ( 15 days of the moon phase) , day of the week are specified, along with the geographical location.

The Vikram Samvat almanac or calendar came into effect during Raja Vikramaditya's reign. And basically originating from ancient Ujjaini, the city of Mahakal, ruler of time. Our Hindu festivals and birthdays are observed according to the lunar calendar (Vikram Samvatsaras aligning with that), and also the solar calendar following the disciplined movement of Sun, in harmony with these Samvatsaras. These astronomical calculations are highly accurate. Eagerly waiting for this year's Chaitra NavratrišŸ™Jai DurgešŸš©

Excellent Article Dr Anadi! Please share more such information, as also the impact of these on Day-to-day life. The Nakshatras in your watch graphic remind me how my father, a simple farmer, and used to see panchang, make some observations in a 14 day period every year that I do not recall now, and end up with a precise nakshatra wise weather forecast for the year. And he was not even a skilled mathematician or astronomer or astrologer!!! I wish I had learnt that from him.

#IncrediblyRichHinduScripturesDistorian #RamchandraGuha whose parents seemed to have named him after Shri Ram said ā€œHindus don't have a holy text like the Bible ā€¦Hinduism is a disaggregated faith". Disaggregated? Does not our uncle know that #KhumbhMela has been the largest congregation of humans in the world and many mini-Khumbhs do happen, pan India? Now coming to divine texts, Guha Saar appears to be utterly unaware of #Sruti literature (what is heard by sages) - the four #Vedas, #Upanishads, Bhramanas, Aranyakas and #BhagavadGita together make up the treasure of Sruti literature, #Smritis (which have been authored and developed by sages), 108 Upanishads, 4 Aranyakas, 6 Vedangas, Manusmriti, Narada Smriti, Brihaspati Smriti, Yajnavalkya Smriti, 4 upa vedas, 2 grand epics - Ramayana and Mahabharata, 18 Puranas from Padma Purana to Garuda Purana to Skanda Purana, 18 Upapuranas, 8 Sutras including Yoga Sutra, 6 Darshan Shastrasā€¦Hinduism, one of the world's oldest religions, has an extensive and profound philosophical system, core of which is made of belief in an infinite, cyclic universe, where creation, preservation, and dissolution coexist in an eternal dance. The Hindu concept of the cosmos is eternal and cyclic, according to the Upanishads and Puranas. The universe and Earth, along with all living beings, undergo repeated cycles of creation and destruction known as pralaya. Schools of Hindu philosophy like Advaita Vedanta propose the existence of an infinite number of universes or realities, each of them being very unique & powered by unique laws of physics & but still is connected to others. This multiverse is seen as a manifestation of Brahman - the ultimate reality and the source of all creation. ą¤•ą„ą¤·ą¤æą¤¤ą„ą¤Æą¤¾ą¤¦ą¤æą¤ą¤æą¤°ą„‡ą¤· ą¤•ą¤æą¤²ą¤¾ą¤µą„ƒą¤¤:ą¤øą¤Ŗą„ą¤¤ą¤ą¤æą¤°ą„ą¤¦ą¤¶ą¤—ą„ą¤£ą„‹ą¤¤ą„ą¤¤ą¤°ą„ˆą¤°ą¤£ą„ą¤”ą¤•ą„‹ą¤¶: ą„¤ą¤Æą¤¤ą„ą¤° ą¤Ŗą¤¤ą¤¤ą„ą¤Æą¤£ą„ą¤•ą¤²ą„ą¤Ŗ:ą¤øą¤¹ą¤¾ą¤£ą„ą¤”ą¤•ą„‹ą¤Ÿą¤æą¤•ą„‹ą¤Ÿą¤æą¤ą¤æą¤øą„ą¤¤ą¤¦ą¤Øą¤Øą„ą¤¤:ą„¤ą„¤Every universe is covered by seven layersā€”earth, water, fire, air, sky, total energy, and false egoā€”each ten times greater than the previous oneā€¦Where to start, where to pause and where to end : the complexity & diversity of Hinduism is beyond the wavelength of many of us, modern humans. Destroying, belittling and dwarfing an ancient civilization and its extremely deep & complex ecosystem of advanced writings and scriptures, and distancing younger generations further from what they have inherited in the process, should not be encouraged.

As I say, Ancient India (Bharat Sanatan IVC/Sarasvati Tamil) was origin of all civilizations worldwide (another example of Aztec / Mayan of America) :1. The religious beliefs and mythologies of the Aztecs and Hindus evolved independently in different regions of the world, and any parallels could be the result of universal themes or archetypes found in human culture and mythology and arising from the collective unconscious.2. In Aztec mythology, the god Ometeotl, who represents duality and the unity of all things is the creator. In Hinduism, there's Brahmā as well as Shiva.3. The Aztec god Huitzilopochtli is associated with the sun, war, and the patron deity of the Aztecs. In Hinduism, Surya is the solar deity.4. In Aztec mythology, Coatlicue is the mother goddess of the earth and fertility. In Hinduism, Prithvi and BhÅ« are the goddess of the earth and fertility.5. The Aztec god Quetzalcoatl, known as the feathered serpent, is associated with wisdom and knowledge. In Hinduism, there is Ananta-śeį¹£a who is the couch of Lord Vishnu.6. The Aztec god Tezcatlipoca is associated with war and is often depicted with a smoking mirror. In Hinduism, there is Indra.7. Pradeep Pendse (PhD)...Sir thank you for sharing this in class today...Got me thinking and I am sharing what I remember and what this means to me...Aham Brahmasmi....we have all heard this sanskrit quote many times before today...This translates to..I am Bramha...I am divine...I am sacred...or there is something divine or sacred within me....Now if this is true, then how should my behaviour or thoughts be??I must be so mindful about this existence that every action of mine should make this divine within me proud and I must abstain from all thoughts and actions that this divinity will not be proud of...If only we begin and end all our days with this thought....this world will be such a better place to live...Post Script: Origin of this Mahavakya - Aham Brahmasmi is from the Brihadaranyaka Upanishad, found in Yajur Veda. As one of the Principal Upanishads, Brihadaranyaka Upanishad is one of the oldest scriptures in Hinduism, and is considered to be an ancient source of spiritual wisdom. This text represents the Advaita Vedanta branch of Hindu philosophy and provides a treatise on the concepts of Atman and Brahman.Representing a central theme of Advaita philosophy, Aham Brahmasmi unites the macrocosmic ideas of God and universal consciousness with the microcosmic individual expression of the Self. This mantra highlights the notion that all beings are intimately connected to universal energy and cannot be separated from it. To recite Aham Brahmasmi is to recognize that Brahman and Atman are one, and as such, there can be no ego or sense of separation.Aham Brahmasmi is one of the four principle Mahavakyas, short statements from The Upanishads otherwise known as "Great Sayings". The essence of each of these Mahavakyas is the same since all are intended to guide practitioners toward the realization that all beings are one with Brahman. Understanding this is believed to be the ultimate form of compassion, in which individuals recognize one another as part of the same whole. The four Principle Mahavakyas are:Prajnanam Brahma - Consciousness is BrahmanAyam Atma Brahma - This self is BrahmanTat Tvam Asi - Thou art That or You are oneAham Brahmasmi - I am Brahman or I am Divine

Different Schools of Hindu Wisdom - Right Knowledge vs. Wrong Knowledge! Who is right in His perception of the Hindu heritage wisdom? 1. One Yogi, Parivrajaka, Sam-nyasi finds Idol worship as nonsense and asks the Hindus to return to the Vedas. 2. Another Sam-nyasi, eloquent speaker on Vedanta talks the opposite and promotes idol worship on account of His Guru even though the Vedanta dealing with the nameless and formless absolute can't have any presence in the idols. 3. Interpretation of the Vedas is manipulated to accommodate Idol worship? 4. What is the truth? Idols work or doesn't work? Swamy Dayananda Saraswati couldn't understand the God-Making Super-Science with stones, metals, paper pulp etc? 5. Given such contradictions between the two great Sam-nyasis who were leaders of the Hindu Renaissance, no touchstones to spot the error in millennia old legacy of the vast spiritual literature? 6. Legacy of the Rishis, Siddhas etc are simply "Error Capsules made like T-shirts of different sizes" for people of different makes? 7. Hindu doctrines are on reduction sale with sectarian identities of caste and creed? Look at the followers of different cults like that of Swami Dayananda Saraswati and Swami Vivekananda or their later manifestations in Arya Samaj and Sri Ramakrishna Mission. Do they address the conflict vis-a-vis mutually exclusive interpretations of the Vedas and worship patterns thereof? We Hindus must remember that the Politics and Polarization vis-a-vis game of Politicians is not going to make them spiritually rich. Rama Temple is an illusion unless we are able to resolve the conflict between Arya Samaj & Sri Ramakrishna Mission. Only ignorance could have produced two different versions of worship. In fact Hindu worship is like that of a flock of blind men gone to see the Universe as a giant elephant. Those blind men have created many traditions of idol worship and dogmas seeking auto-hypnosis. Does the ancient wisdom exhort us to keep an open mind and be critical about the knowledge shared and gained so that we are not caught in the pitfalls possible of error?

Light of Knowledge is the Essence of Hindu WorshipTamaso maa JyotirgamayaWe all take pride in our Vedic heritage. Aarsha Bharatam! But today where are we getting led to by the Political Pontiffs? Hindu is not marching ahead today. Hindu is becoming a victim of misinformation. Those masquerading as Hindu Saviours are men in quest of personal glory, spiritual dwarfs unable to understand the transient life vis-a-vis the eternal light of knowledge central to the way of life of Sanatana Dharma. Agents of capitalism are trying to hypnotize the Hindu masses with promises, pseudoscience and a secured future. Nothing can be farther from the truth. Pseudoscience shall destroy the sheen of Sanatana Dharma within the next decade. The upcoming generation will realise the truth of Pseudoscience and claims of fake glory. Hindu wisdom will lose its credibility. Imagine the credibility of Prana-Pratishta and Murti Puja if a Political Pontiff can hijack the Prana-Pratishta of Sri Ramachandra in the burial site of thousands of Warriors who sacrificed themselves... Self-styled Gurus and Pontiffs can create Murtis fit for worship? Why not declare every milestone and the lamp post as Prana-Pratishta? Every brick layed in the construction of Sri Rama Chandra mandir was a Prana-Pratishta. All those Martyrs for the cause of Ayodhya have been waiting for decades and centuries for a solemn event at Ayodhya instead of the hijack experience of the Garbha-griha by the Political Pontiffs. We Hindus are to miss the light of the scriptures and of Sanatana Dharma unless we save the next generation from the hands of Political Pontiffs.

šŸ•‰ļø Hinduism is Monotheistic!Exploring the Vedic Depth: Narayana as the Supreme God šŸ™In the vast tapestry of Hindu philosophy, the concept of divinity transcends boundaries of time and space, weaving through the rich fabric of the Vedas. At the heart of this intricate mosaic lies Narayana, revered as the supreme deity, embodying the essence of existence itself.Rooted in the ancient scriptures of the Vedas, Narayana emerges as a divine force, encompassing the universe within His being. His name, derived from the Sanskrit words "nara" (meaning water or human consciousness) and "ayana" (meaning dwelling or resting place), symbolizes His omnipresence, as the cosmic abode of all life.Drawing from the Rigveda, where Narayana is praised as the ultimate reality beyond comprehension, to the Upanishads, which delve into His cosmic manifestations and divine attributes, the Vedic literature illuminates His transcendental nature. Narayana is depicted as the source and sustainer of all creation, the primordial being from whom the universe emanates and to whom it ultimately returns.Furthermore, the Bhagavad Gita, a timeless spiritual dialogue between Lord Krishna and Arjuna, elucidates the significance of Narayana as the supreme personality of Godhead. Through His teachings, Narayana reveals the path of righteousness (dharma) and the essence of devotion (bhakti), guiding souls towards spiritual enlightenment and liberation (moksha). In essence, the Vedic relevance of Narayana as the supreme God of Hinduism transcends mere theological discourse, offering profound insights into the eternal truths of existence. His divine presence permeates every aspect of the cosmos, inspiring seekers on their quest for higher knowledge and spiritual fulfillment. As we delve deeper into the timeless wisdom of the Vedas, let us reflect on the profound significance of Narayana, the embodiment of divine grace and eternal truth, the whole, of whom all other gods and our own souls are fractals.#VedicWisdom #HinduPhilosophy #Narayana #SupremeGod #TheDharmaManual #SpiritualJourney šŸŒŸšŸ•Šļø

#newdaynewchapterLord Ganesha is a Hindu deity known as the remover of obstacles and the patron of arts and sciences. He is also known as the god of wisdom, intellect, and education. He is often depicted with the head of an elephant and a big belly, holding a broken tusk and a laddoo, a sweet ball-shaped food. He is also known as the son of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. He is widely revered and worshipped in Hinduism, and is considered to be one of the most important deities in the Hindu pantheon. The mythological origins of Shri Ganesha have already been given in numerous post so I shall just present a higher perspective. In order to really understand Hindu theology and iconography one needs to stop thinking ā€œpersonalityā€ and start thinking in terms of symbols and a knowledge of Sanskrit is very useful in this line of thinking.Shri Gaį¹‡esha mythologically is the son of Lord Shiva and Parvati and the elder brother Skanda. Mythology is the vehicle of philosophy just as an icon on the computer screen is the graphical user interface. So letā€™s explore the meanings behind the images.Shiva (The Auspicious One) is chid-Swarupa or the embodiment of Pure, Blissful Universal Consciousness. He is represented by chid-akasha - limitless Space-Consciousness. He dwells on the mountain top - the mountain points towards the vast expanse of Space.Parvati (The daughter of the mountain Himalaya) is his consort and is representative of Material nature of the Universe i.e. that substance (particles and fields) of which the Universe is comprised. These two factors are known as Purusha (consciousness) and Prakriti (Matter). When they combine they produce two sons:ā€“Ganesha - which means ā€”Gaį¹‡a = category + isha = lord. So ā€œlord-of-categoriesā€ and he represents wisdom since we think and organise our memories and experiences according to mental ā€œcategories.ā€ So he is the embodiment of the cognitive power of jnana-shakti.Skanda - which means an ā€œejacul*tionā€ represents a creative and forceful movement into being and so he is representative of the mental power of action - kriya-shakti. Kriya-shakti is the power or ability to put ideas into practice and to be able to actualise mental conceptions and plans. So Skanda is skilful means. The third mental power known as iccha-Shakti or power of emotion, feeling or love is Shiva Himself as Shambhu - the creator of peace and tranquility who units with the daughter of the mountain is blissful conjugal sport. Jay Shri Ganesh, Jay Shri Skanda Kartikeya

The True Essence of #Varn: Decided by #Karm, Not BirthIn the ancient scriptures of India, particularly the Vedas, Upanishads, Brahmanas, Aranyakas, and Puranas, the concept of varn, or social classification, is deeply ingrained. Contrary to popular belief, which associates varna with one's birth, these scriptures emphasize that varn is determined by one's actions and occupation. The misconception that varn is fixed at birth has been perpetuated over centuries, but a closer examination of the texts reveals a different narrative. The foundational texts of Hinduism, such as the Veds, emphasize the importance of karm, or actions, in shaping an individual's destiny. This principle extends to the concept of varna as well. According to the scriptures, one's varn is not determined by birth but by the duties and actions one performs in life. The Chandogya Upanishad (4.4.5) declares:ą¤¤ą¤¤ą„ą¤°ą„‡ą¤¤ą¤®ą„‡ą¤µ ą¤…ą¤µą¤æą¤¦ą„ą¤Æą¤¾ą¤¦ą„ą¤µą¤æą¤¦ą„ą¤Æą¤¾ą¤Øą„ą¤¤ą¤¾ą¤‚ ą¤Æą„‹ą¤½ą¤µą¤æą¤¦ą„ą¤Æą¤¾ą¤Æą¤¾ą¤‚ ą¤°ą¤¤ą¤ƒ ą¤ø ą¤ą¤µ ą¤¶ą„ą¤¦ą„ą¤§ą„‹ ą¤Æą¤œą„ą¤žą¤æą¤Æą„‹ ą¤Æą¤œą„ą¤žą¤øą„ą¤Æ ą¤øą¤®ą¤æą¤§ą¤ƒą„¤(Translation: "Among them verily, the ignorant, through ignorance, delight in ignorance; he only is pure and worthy of the offering who is devoted to wisdom.")This verse suggests that one who is devoted to wisdom, regardless of their birth, is worthy of performing sacrifices. It highlights the importance of knowledge and action over birth in determining one's varn.Similarly, the Bhagavad Gita (4.13) states:ą¤šą¤¾ą¤¤ą„ą¤°ą„ą¤µą¤°ą„ą¤£ą„ą¤Æą¤‚ ą¤®ą¤Æą¤¾ ą¤øą„ƒą¤·ą„ą¤Ÿą¤‚ ą¤—ą„ą¤£ą¤•ą¤°ą„ą¤®ą¤µą¤æą¤ą¤¾ą¤—ą¤¶ą¤ƒą„¤(Translation: "According to the three modes of material nature and the work associated with them, the four divisions of human society are created by Me.")Here, Lord Shri Krishn explains that varna is based on an individual's qualities (gun) and actions (karm), rather than birth.Numerous examples from Hindu mythology and history illustrate the fluidity of varn based on one's actions. The great sage Valmiki, traditionally considered a low-caste hunter by birth, transformed into a revered saint and author of the epic Ramayan through his devotion and penance.Similarly, Lord Shri Ram, the protagonist of the Ramayan, honored the sage Shabari, who belonged to a lower caste, by accepting her offerings and teachings. This anecdote underscores the importance of one's character and actions over birth.During British colonial rule in India, the complex social structure of varn was oversimplified and distorted into the rigid caste system. The British misinterpreted varn as a hereditary system, akin to the European concept of social hierarchy, and categorized individuals based solely on birth. This misinterpretation led to the entrenchment of caste-based discrimination and inequality, which continues to affect Indian society today. The British imposition of caste-based identities further marginalized certain communities and perpetuated social injustice.Read this book by Mr Rajiv Malhotra, an eminent writer, for more insights & facts on the subject:https://lnkd.in/gAcVXxha

Some mentally paralysed people state that Chandragupta Maurya was a Jain. Actually he was the disciple of Kautilya who was a Sanatani Brahmin. He taught Chandragupta under the Sanatani tradition. So Chandragupta was a Sanatani Hindu. After ruling over the Great Aryavart, a Republic Nation, he went into the forest for penance at the Vanprastha age as per Hindu mythology and thereby he breathed his last leading a life of monk and sacrificing everything necessary for survival. At the last stage of life he had accepted Jainism. Initially he was a Sanatani. Actually Jainism and Buddhism, both were the sects of Sanatani tradition. It means both belonged to Sanatani ideology. According to the present day notion, they are the sects of Hinduism. Just as the thoughts of Dayanand Saraswati (Satyarth Prakash) belonged to the Hinduism notion, so were the theories of Buddhism and Jainism which actually belonged to the Sanatani tradition, in other words the two sects belonged to Hinduism. The leftist writers and hollow-minded scholars established the two sects as being opposite to or different from Hinduism. The genesis of Buddhism and Jainism are to be found in the ancient literatures of Hinduism. Please, don't show shallow-mindedeness. Little knowledge is a dangerous thing. Go and study history books and consult pedantic professors of universities, and don't disregard the solid facts, which I am displaying. No need of abusing a learned scholar. When Chandragupta Maurya forsook his kingdom, he adopted Jainism. He was originally and genuinely a Sanatani. Almost all the emperors of ancient times, usually adopted Jainism because Jainism teaches how to sacrifice life by renouncing the worldliness for attaining the post of Salvation or Moksha or Nirvana. This thought also belongs to Hinduism. As Jainism is born of Hinduism, it is not older; rather Hinduism is much older. Also know that 23 Tirthankars before the 24th Tirthankar Lord Magavir, were originally Sanatani. Parshvanath was originally Sanatani
