Norfolk Intl. Terminals

Norfolk International Terminals (NIT)

SEMI-AUTOMATED CONTAINER TERMINAL

NIT is the port’s largest terminal and will have more than 90 semi-automated stacking cranes and an annual terminal capacity of 3.6M TEUs following ongoing expansion.

DIRECT ACCESS TO RAIL

NIT offers direct, on-dock rail access with Norfolk Southern, as well as intermodal access with CSX.

DIRECT INTERSTATE CONNECTIVITY

With direct access to Interstate 64 and two on-terminal transfer zones, NIT offers first-class fluidity and efficiency for motor carriers.

$650M INVESTMENT

The port is renovating, expanding, and modernizing the North Terminal at NIT to increase the terminal’s annual TEU capacity.

$83M INVESTMENT

NIT’s Central Rail Yard (CRY) is undergoing an expansion to increase the CRY’s rail lift capacity, with an estimated completion date of Q1 2024.

Virginia Intl. Gateway

VIRGINIA INTERNATIONAL GATEWAY (VIG)

SEMI-AUTOMATED CONTAINER TERMINAL

With more than 50 semi-automated stacking cranes and the capability to support three ULCVs simultaneously, VIG has a 2.2M annual TEU capacity.

DIRECT ACCESS TO RAIL

VIG has nearly 20,000 linear feet of rail track with on-dock connections to Norfolk Southern and CSX.

DIRECT INTERSTATE CONNECTIVITY

With its unique position adjacent to Interstate 164, VIG offers first-class fluidity and efficiency for motor carriers.

NEWPORT NEWS MARINE TERMINAL (NNMT)

MAIN BREAKBULK & RORO FACILITY

NNMT offers 60 acres of outside storage and 968,000 SF of covered storage space.

DIRECT ACCESS TO RAIL

NNMT has direct, on-dock rail service from CSX with the ability to transfer with Norfolk Southern.

Virginia Inland port

VIRGINIA INLAND PORT (VIP)

INTERMODAL CONTAINER TRANSPORT FACILITY

Located in Front Royal in Northern Virginia, VIP brings cargo 200 miles inland via rail to a strategic location positioned to serve the DC and Baltimore markets, as well as markets in Pennsylvania, Maryland, and West Virginia.

$15M INVESTMENT

The port is investing $15M to expand the terminal’s on-terminal track capacity by 40%, as well as improving the terminal’s container yard efficiency.

RICHMOND MARINE TERMINAL (RMT)

BARGE SERVICE

With three barges in rotation, RMT is a frequent, streamlined service between ocean and inland terminal connections.

$6M INVESTMENT

The port is investing more than $6M to upgrade the terminal’s main gate and drop-lot for motor carriers.
