1,2 Burlington (Vt.) Free Press, Friday, September 26, 1986 Randolph Bus Drivers In Favor of Drug Tests The Associated Press RANDOLPH Some workers and athletes are protesting the use of mandatory drug tests, but not the bus drivers in Randolph. The 12 drivers in the Orange Southwest Supervisory Union have signed a petition saying they're happy to take the tests and prove they are free of drugs, if the union will pay the tab. The drivers delivered the petition to Superintendent Roger Bourassa. Bourassa said he expects the School Board to address the funding issue at a meeting next month. Bob Race, transportation supervisor, said the staff drafted the petition after reading newspaper accounts about growing drug use.

"We were sitting around after work, shooting the breeze, and this drug testing idea came up. So all my drivers kicked it around and said, 'Hey, why don't we take a drug Race said. "We figured, 'Hey, let's get the ball rolling and see what we can do about Charles Russell, School Board chairman, said he supports the bus driver's action. "I'm all for it. Drug testing may not ultimately be the vehicle we use to cure the drug problem, but it's a solid way of approaching it," he said.

Race said he planned to ask the School Board to consider requiring a mandatory drug test for all future bus drivers. Bourassa said he would not recommend mandatory drug testing for school staff. Randolph Police Chief Philip Mollitor said the drug tests would cost about $20 each. Westminster Hosts Visitors From Its British Namesake The Associated Press WESTMINSTER A touch of Britain will fill the air today as the Lord Mayor of Westminster, England, arrives in the town named after its British counterpart. The Lord Mayor, Mrs.

Terrence Mallinson, and her husband, Terrence Stuart Mallinson, the deputy lieutenant of greater London, are scheduled to arrive in connection with Westminster, England's 400th anniversary celebration, said William O'Connor, town manager in the Vermont town of Westminster. O'Connor said he didn't know Mrs. Mallinson's first name. He said all the correspondence from the Westminster, England, Lord Mayor was signed by "Mrs. Terrence Mallinson." O'Connor said the town received a letter from former Lord Mayor John Bull informing the Vermont community of the English borough's 400th anniversary.

"We sent a letter extending our sincerest best wishes for a happy and successful 400th anniversary celebration," O'Connor said. He said the British followed up with a request that the Mallinsons be allowed to visit Westminster during a visit to the United States. O'Connor said the Mallinsons will visit the town this afternoon then have a traditional British dinner at The Westminster restaurant. Death Notices and Funerals Held EA MAURICE H.
